Boulle’s mastery of linear brushwork imbues the composition with a sense of calculated precision, underscoring the artist’s attention to detail and dedication to representational fidelity. As a visual entity, the piece operates within a restricted palette of sepia tones, which serves to underscore its contemplative atmosphere. Upon enlargement to 44×70 inches, the spatial rhythm of “Two designs” becomes pronounced, with Boulle’s linear brushwork contributing to an increased sense of depth and dimensionality.
