Curatorial Narrative The Attic amphora, a Greek and Amazon in combat, created in 1883, occupies a singular position within the Archaic Period’s trajectory. The anonymous artist’s technique is characterized by its adherence to ancient Greek conventions, as evident in the linear brushwork and strict adherence to classical design styles. However, this piece also exhibits an intriguing tension between these classic forms and modern minimalist sensibilities.
